St. Jude Children's Home (Summer 2009)

St. Jude Children's Home

St. Jude Children’s Home is a residence for orphaned, abandoned, vulnerable and disabled children, located in the Gulu Region of Northern Uganda. Their mission is to provide a loving environment where children have access to comprehensive care including education, health services as well as emotional and spiritual support. In July 2009 the Mercy Project and partners created the St. Jude Children’s Home and Consolation Side Health Care Agreement. It provided funding for an on-site nurse, medical supplies and emergency coverage, while also assisting in healthcare seminars. The children’s health has greatly improved and we are proud to announce that, in addition to our current commitment, the Health Care Agreement is now also financing a nurse’s assistant and basic medical clinic.

The Mango Tree Daycare (Summer 2008)

The Mango Tree Daycare

The Mango Tree Daycare is a preschool located in the Koro Region of Northern Uganda. It provides education, food, bathing, and a safe and friendly environment for the children. Recognizing the need to enhance the level of healthcare provided to the children, the Mercy Project provided support for medical care for the children, which included treatment for infections, malaria, and de-worming. The Mango Tree Daycare has now hired a nurse and is establishing its own clinic. We are pleased with the community's expansion of its healthcare program and look forward to seeing their progress and success stories.
