Frequently Asked Questions
What is The Mercy Project’s mission?
The Mercy Project is a Montreal-based non-profit organization that works in collaboration with community partners to support healthcare initiatives where resources are limited.
Where does my money go?
The Mercy Project provides financial support for various healthcare initiatives. Currently, our funding supports a health program at St. Jude Children's Home in Northern Uganda. In addition to the nurse’s salary and the nurse's assistant's salary, funds go towards medical supplies and emergency treatment.
The Mercy Project operates on a volunteer basis and we make every attempt to keep administrative fees as low as possible. These fees are restricted to banking and transfer fees, as well as minimal promotional and office supplies.
We make it a priority that your money goes to the areas where it is most needed: to the people in need and the programs supporting healthcare.
How do I make a donation?
The Mercy Project currently accepts credit card and cheque donations through PayPal. A personal PayPal account is not needed in order to donate to our organization.
All cheques should be made payable to The Mercy Project.
If you wish to donate something other than money such as a venue, resources, gift certificates, or other materials, please contact us.
Can I get a tax receipt for my donation?
The Mercy Project is currently in the process of applying for Charitable Status. At this present time we are unable to issue tax receipts.
Is there a minimum donation?
Every penny donated makes a difference, so there is no definite amount required. You may choose to donate once, or create a recurring donation at your convenience.
Can I make my donation anonymously?
Yes. The PayPal system will require that you enter your information for payment processing; however this information will not be shared with other parties.
Are there non-financial ways to support the Project?
Yes. The Mercy Project requires volunteers for promotion, event staff, and fund-raising. As our board operates on a volunteer basis, we will also intermittently recruit new directors as needed (please see News for volunteer position postings). We encourage you to approach us with any ideas you might have, as we are always open to suggestions.
How can I keep up-to-date with The Mercy Project’s progress?
The Mercy Project has a quarterly newsletter with all of our latest news, announcements, and updates. To be added to the mailing list you can sign-up here or e-mail us with your request. You can also continue to check out our website for the latest information or contact us at anytime.
